Kayak Explore

Kayak’s Explore feature is my Go To when I have absolutely no idea where I want to go. Just type is you departure city, set your budget and watch the deals fill the screen!

ITA Google Matrix

ITA has been a LONG time favorite of mine. This user friendly flight search engine lets you be as simple or as thorough as you prefer. Search exact dates or lowest fares over a range, select number of stops and fare class or even choose exactly where you want your layover to be. This engine will search over all airlines domestic and foreign (except Southwest) and let you view each leg individually. The Only downside is that it is an information only sigh; you can’t book directly through them.

Hotwire

First let me say I ALWAYS check Marriott properties first because that’s the loyalty program I choose to maximize for consistent rewards. However, when I don’t have great options there, Hotwire is my Go To. More specifically the special Hotwire rates with the secret location. Time after time I’ve scored 5-star hotels for less than $100 a night!

Trip Advisor

Trip Advisor is one of the most reliable sources for information on any given destination. Just type in the name and gain access to thousands of other travelers reviews on what to do when you get to you next vacation spot.
